AltiPro began on a fixed line above Camp III. Our founder, Pemba Gyalje, had been the lead Sherpa on three failed commercial expeditions in a row — failed not because of weather or skill, but because of clients who should never have left base camp. So in 2009 he started something stricter.
We turn people away. We require a verified climbing résumé. We run small teams — never more than six clients to a rope. Our guides are themselves accomplished alpinists, not employees on rotation. Every expedition is run as if our own family is on the line, because half the time they are.
The result is a small operation with a disproportionately high summit ratio and a perfect safety record. That's the entire pitch.
